Bird’s Nest Custom Golf Cart – Gallagher’s Canyon *part 3*

We’ve been working hard this week on the design for the new SC Carts custom roof system that will feature a DOT approved glass windshield! The roof system design is now complete and is ready to head off to our favorite powder coaters… check out how this cart is shaping up:

SC Carts brand new custom DOT windshield has arrived from our new supplier and it looks fantastic!

We start off first by making a frame for the glass.

Once we had the frame completed we then moved onto making the actual roof structure. Rolling tube to line up with our windshield design.

IMG_6813

Now we are fitting the frame and roof uprights together.

IMG_6816

With everything fitting properly it was time to weld the frame to the uprights.

Here is our new roof system compared to our old roof system. Pretty close in design but the new one is a bit wider and has some more shape to it.

Next the custom lower mounts were fabbed up.

Looking awesome as we continue to test fit.

IMG_6872

With everything fitting well, we final welded the front frame.

Another test fit shows it’s going to be awesome!

IMG_6877

We couldn’t resist putting the windshield in for a test fit. How awesome does that look!

A side shows just how much curve this custom windshield has.

Now that we are happy with the front, it was time to make the rear uprights.

Then we moved on to the custom roof top bars.

Trimmed and fitting perfectly, what a cool look.

Another shot showing everything tacked up and fitted.

This is the difference between having a custom cart built and having one put together out of a catalog.

This shot shows how great this cart looks from the rear.

The roof is removed from the cart and ready for final weld and then off to powder coat.

IMG_6902

With the major fabrication for this project complete we got back to the reassembly of this beast. The cup holders were installed onto the freshly refurbished dash.

IMG_6904

Next we installed the chrome steering wheel adapter and custom steering wheel.

IMG_6905

The steering wheel ties in perfectly with the cart.

Finally we installed the front underbody, you can see the LED’s just peaking out!

Wheeewww! That was a lot of work, but it will come together quickly from here. We still have some really cool things coming for this cart, so you won’t want to miss them!

Have you seen part 2?
